Nestled at the entrance to the Thur Valley, the town of Thann serves as a natural gateway between the Alsace plain and the mountains.
Its origns date back to the 12th century, centering on an oratory dedicated to Saint Thiebault, this site became the town’s spiritual and architectural heart, featuring the famous Gothic collegiate church a jewel of the Alsatian Middle Ages.
Thanks to its strategic location, Thann was long a place of transit and trade, notably on the Alsace Wine Road and the old road connecting Mulhouse to Lorraine.
Today, Thann captivates visitors with its historical heritage, the terraced vineyards of the Rangen, its unspoiled natural environnment, and the many hiking trails that wind through moutains, forests, and picturesque villages.
